Online money management tools

In some ways, managing your money has never been easier. But with all the technology on offer, it can be difficult to know where to start.

This guide can help you work out which tools might be the best ones for you to help manage your money.

Work out your financial fitness

You can find out how financially fit you are by using our online tool.

Simply generate your score out of 100 by answering a few quick questions. It only takes about 10 minutes, and doesn't affect your credit rating in any way.

Mobile and online banking

You can do most of your everyday banking online or using a mobile app.

There are also other apps designed to help you manage your money effectively, but you should always make sure they’re secure. For example, tools like the HSBC Digital Secure Key give you extra protection when you log on to online banking.

If you’re an HSBC customer, you can use our mobile banking app to manage your accounts.1 You can do a wide range of tasks, such as:

  • view statements or recent transactions
  • transfer money between your own accounts
  • send money to other accounts either in the UK, or outside the UK
  • view or cancel Direct Debits
  • view, cancel and set up standing orders
  • get notifications of transactions
  • activate your debit or credit card
  • apply for or manage your arranged overdraft

Once you've downloaded the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app, you'll be switched automatically to paperless statements. You can access these on your phone.

For added security, you can also use biometrics to log on to your account. Choose from either Android Fingerprint or Apple Touch ID or Face ID, depending on the type of device you have.

And don't forget you can use the app to put a temporary block on your debit or credit card if it's lost or stolen - and unblock it again if it turns up. Find out more about the features that make digital banking secure.

Stay in control of your money

Banking on a mobile app lets you see your accounts at anytime from anywhere. This means you can always have a complete picture of your financial situation, which can help you stay on top of your money.

Some mobile banking apps allow you to set up transaction notifications. With ours, you can choose to be notified when money goes in or out of your current or savings accounts. You can also get notifications when payments are made from your HSBC credit cards. Find out more about how to make good financial decisions

You can also use tools like Balance After Bills on our mobile app. It shows you how much you could have left for the month ahead, once scheduled bills are taken into account, to help you manage your money.

We have more mobile money management tools in our app to help you keep an eye on your spending and stay on top of your finances. Not only could they help you keep within your budget and improve spending, they may also help you grow your money and achieve your financial goals.
